I’ve been living in Orient Bay for years, and Alamanda is the address I get asked about most. Not because it’s the flashiest option on the beach — but because it delivers exactly what people come here for: you step off your terrace and you’re on the sand. That’s it. That’s the whole pitch.
For years, Alamanda was one of the most well-known beachfront hotels in Orient Bay, especially with American travelers who kept coming back to the same address.
Hurricane Irma in 2017 changed everything. The property was completely destroyed — and later rebuilt from the ground up.
Today, Alamanda is no longer a hotel, but a residence made up of individually owned condos. Some are managed directly by their owners, others by local concierge companies.
The setup is a little different now — but the reason people choose Alamanda hasn’t changed.
Alamanda isn’t a single managed property — it’s a collection of privately owned units.
Which makes it a bit tricky to navigate. Listings are scattered across different platforms, with no single place showing everything clearly.
So I put this page together to make things easier.
If you already know you want to stay in Alamanda, this is where you’ll find options that are actually located here — nothing else, no confusion.
Alamanda books out fast — and that’s not marketing speak. It’s genuinely one of the most requested addresses in Orient Bay, and availability disappears early, especially between December and April.
If you see something that fits your dates, it’s usually worth securing it early — you can always adjust later if needed.

Alamanda started as a hotel — which is why the infrastructure is properly designed: pool, beach access, parking, everything in the right place. Since 2018 it has operated as a residence of individually owned condos, managed by a mix of private owners and local concierge companies. That means each unit is slightly different in style and price, but the location and shared amenities stay the same. Think of it as a boutique residence with hotel-grade facilities.
Yes. Alamanda has a swimming pool on the property. Combined with direct beach access to Orient Bay, most guests end up spending their days alternating between the two. The pool area is well maintained and tends to be quieter than the beach — good if you want to read or relax without the full beach energy.
It's beachfront. You step off the property and you're on the sand — no road to cross, no five-minute walk. This is one of the main reasons Alamanda is consistently one of the most requested addresses in Orient Bay. Direct beach access is not a given in this area, and Alamanda delivers it without compromise.
Minimum stay varies by unit and by season. Most studios and apartments require a minimum of 3 to 7 nights, with longer minimums during peak season (December to April). Check the individual listing for exact requirements — each condo sets its own terms since they are independently owned.
Yes, particularly for families with older children. The beachfront location, pool, and range of unit sizes (studios to two-bedroom apartments) make it a practical base. Orient Bay itself has calm water at the northern end near Alamanda, which works well for kids. The beach is lively during the day with restaurants and water sports nearby, so there's always something to do.
Cancellation policies vary by unit and booking platform. Units booked through Booking.com often offer free cancellation options — check the specific listing at the time of booking. Units booked directly with the owner or concierge service will have their own terms. As a general rule, the closer to peak season, the stricter the policy. Always read the cancellation terms before confirming.
Yes — and I say that as someone who lives five minutes from it. Orient Bay is one of the few beaches in the Caribbean that combines a genuinely beautiful setting with actual infrastructure: good restaurants, water sports, beach bars, and easy parking. It can get busy in high season, but the beach is long enough that you can always find a quieter stretch. The northern end near Alamanda tends to be calmer than the center.
A few things set it apart. First, it's on the French side — which means no development directly on the sand, better food, and a more relaxed atmosphere than the Dutch side beaches. Second, it has a naturist section at the southern end, which gives the whole beach a notably free-spirited vibe. Third, the water is calm and turquoise, protected by a reef just offshore. And fourth, the restaurant scene along the beach is genuinely good — not the usual tourist traps.
It depends on what you want. Orient Bay is the best choice if you want beach life, energy, restaurants within walking distance, and easy access to water sports and excursions. Grand Case is the right pick if food is your priority — it's the gastronomic capital of the Caribbean and worth the trip from anywhere on the island. Anse Marcel is quieter and more sheltered, good for families or those who want to stay away from the crowds. I'm biased toward Orient Bay, but I've watched people fall in love with every part of this island.
Generally yes. The water at Orient Bay is warm, clear, and calm for most of the year, with a reef offshore that reduces wave action. The northern end of the beach — where Alamanda sits — tends to have the gentlest conditions. Like any Caribbean beach, conditions can vary with wind and swell, particularly during hurricane season (June to November). Outside of that window, Orient Bay is one of the most reliable swimming beaches on the island.
