Grand Case Hotels

Grand Case is one of the best places to stay in St Martin — but only if you choose the right part of the village.
Grand Case beach and village in St Martin

Grand Case is small, but not every stay gives you the same experience.

On a booking site, many hotels and vacation rentals in Grand Case can look similar. In real life, the difference between staying directly on the beach, near the boulevard, around Petite Plage, or just outside the village matters a lot.

Some places are perfect if you want calm water in the morning and dinner within walking distance at night. Others give you more space, more privacy, or a quieter setting — but less of that easy Grand Case feeling.

I know this village well. I used to live right across from Le Cottage, so Grand Case is not just a place I know from hotel listings. I know what it feels like to walk the boulevard at night, to hear the restaurants fill up, and to understand why staying here is very different from simply coming for dinner.

This guide is here to help you compare the real options: beachfront hotels, Petite Plage stays, village apartments, nearby villas, and vacation rentals — so you can choose the part of Grand Case that actually matches your trip.

Local perspective

Grand Case is best for travelers who want calm water, excellent restaurants, and a walkable village feel. It is not the best fit if you want a large resort, nightlife, casino access, or an all-inclusive vacation.

Quick verdict

  • Best overall: stay near Grand Case Beach or the boulevard if you want restaurants and beach access close together.
  • Best for quiet: Petite Plage feels calmer, more tucked away, and better for slow mornings.
  • Best for food lovers: the village center keeps you closest to Grand Case restaurants and lolos.
  • Best for space: nearby apartments and villas work better if you want more room and do not mind using a car.
  • Think twice if: you want a big resort, kids club, casino nightlife, or everything inside one property.

Grand Case Beach Club

Probably the easiest hotel to recommend in Grand Case. Not because it’s the most luxurious on paper — but because it gets almost everything right for a Caribbean vacation.

The location alone is exceptional. Tucked at the quiet end of the village between Grand Case Beach and Petite Plage, the property feels peaceful and private while still being walking distance from all the restaurants on the boulevard. Two beaches directly on site, calm water, panoramic views toward Anguilla, and sunsets that honestly start feeling a little unfair after a few days.

The rooms are spacious apartment-style suites with full kitchens, terraces or balconies, and a relaxed “home away from home” atmosphere that works incredibly well in St Martin.

And then there’s Sunset Café — directly on Petite Plage — where breakfast somehow turns into lunch, and lunch somehow becomes sunset drinks without anybody questioning the life choices being made.

I would recommend Grand Case Beach Club for:
  • first-time visitors to St Martin
  • families wanting calm swimmable water
  • couples looking for something relaxed but beautiful
  • travelers who want to stay walking distance from restaurants without being in noise and traffic all day

Honestly, if someone asked me for the safest “you can’t really go wrong” choice in Grand Case, this would probably be it.

★★★★★
“10/10 Excellent”

The most beautiful, relaxed, magical place. Just perfection—from the room, the view, the beaches, the staff, the location, and the food! It was absolutely amazing.

Hotel L’Esplanade

L’Esplanade feels less like a hotel and more like a hidden hillside residence overlooking the bay.

The moment you arrive, everything becomes quieter.

Perched above Grand Case in lush tropical gardens, the property has this elegant Mediterranean-Caribbean atmosphere that feels very different from the beachfront hotels below. Spacious suites with full kitchens, enormous terraces, panoramic bay views, a beautiful heated pool, complimentary yoga sessions, spa treatments at Ti Spa… the entire experience leans into calm and privacy rather than beach energy.

And the views are genuinely spectacular.

Especially around sunset, when the entire bay turns gold and the lights of Grand Case slowly begin appearing below you.

Despite feeling secluded, you’re still only a short walk from the restaurants — which creates this perfect balance between peaceful retreat and village life.

I would recommend L’Esplanade for:
  • couples wanting something romantic and quiet
  • honeymoon trips
  • travelers who value atmosphere more than direct beach access
  • people who want Grand Case without feeling “in the middle of everything”

This is the kind of hotel where people start speaking softer after the first evening.

“10/10 Excellent”

One of the most pleasant hotel stays for my wife and I. Great people working there, beautiful grounds and pool, all very well maintained.

LOVE Boutique Hotel

LOVE Boutique Hotel is probably the most “Grand Case” hotel in Grand Case.

Small. Stylish. Right on the beach. Right in the middle of the village. The kind of place where you wake up, open the balcony doors, and immediately see turquoise water before your brain has even fully started working yet.

The atmosphere here feels young, relaxed and effortlessly cool without trying too hard.

The beachfront rooms are the ones you want if possible. Private terrace, sand a few steps away, wine at sunset with Anguilla in the distance… honestly, it’s dangerously easy to start extending your trip here.

And the location is almost absurdly convenient.

You walk out of the hotel directly onto the boulevard. Restaurants everywhere. Beach bars nearby. Morning coffee five minutes away. No car needed once you arrive.

I would recommend LOVE Boutique Hotel for:
  • couples
  • younger travelers
  • people who want Grand Case energy right outside their door
  • travelers who care more about atmosphere and location than pools and resort facilities

This is not the place for huge resort luxury.

This is the place for barefoot mornings, sunset rosé, and accidentally staying out until midnight on a Tuesday.

Koho SXM (ex-Hévéa Hotel)

Koho is the kind of place people book “just for a few nights”… then quietly extend once they realize how practical the location actually is.

You walk out the front door and Grand Case is immediately there. Morning coffee across the street. The lolos five minutes away. Dinner reservations? Basically your entire vacation is now walkable.

And after a few days in St Martin traffic, that suddenly becomes a very beautiful thing.

The hotel itself is simple in a good way. Small tropical courtyard, relaxed atmosphere, recently refreshed rooms, no fake luxury pretending to be something it’s not.

Honestly, Koho understands something a lot of expensive hotels forget: most people don’t come to Grand Case to stay inside their room all day.

They come to swim, eat absurdly well, have one more drink than planned at sunset, walk home barefoot after dinner, then do it all again tomorrow.

And for that lifestyle? Koho works extremely well.

I would recommend it for:
  • couples doing St Martin properly — meaning mostly outside
  • travelers who care more about location than resort amenities
  • people who plan to explore the island during the day
  • repeat visitors who already know Grand Case is where evenings tend to end anyway

Also: free parking in Grand Case may sound like a small detail now. Wait until high season. Then suddenly it feels like a luxury amenity.

Want more space?

Local perspective

Who should stay in Grand Case?

Grand Case is not the place I recommend to everyone. But for the right traveler, it can be one of the easiest and most enjoyable places to stay on the French side of St Martin.

You want to walk to dinner

This is the biggest reason to stay here. In Grand Case, you do not have to plan every evening around driving, parking or deciding who skips the wine. You can walk out for dinner, take your time, and come back along the village.

You care more about atmosphere than resort facilities

Grand Case is not about huge pools, kids clubs or polished resort corridors. It is about the beach, the restaurants, the village rhythm and that feeling of being close to the real French side.

You like smaller places with character

The best stays here are usually boutique hotels, beachfront rooms, studios, apartments and small residences. If you prefer places that feel more personal than standardized, Grand Case makes sense.

You want a beautiful beach without being isolated

Grand Case Beach is calm, pretty and easy to enjoy, but you are still close to restaurants, bakeries, shops and other parts of the island. It works especially well if you want beach time without feeling cut off.

My honest take: Grand Case is best for travelers who want to feel the village, not just sleep near it. If your idea of a good evening is walking to dinner after the beach, this is one of the best places to base yourself.

Before you book

Who should think twice before staying in Grand Case?

I love Grand Case, but I would rather say this clearly than let you book the wrong stay. The village has a very specific feel, and it is not the right base for every kind of St Martin vacation.

You want a full resort experience

If your dream stay includes a big lobby, several pools, room service, daily entertainment and everything handled inside the property, Grand Case may feel too small and too independent.

You want nightlife like Maho or Simpson Bay

Grand Case has restaurants, beach bars and a lively dinner scene, but it is not the Dutch side party strip. If you want casinos, clubs and late-night action every night, stay closer to Maho or Simpson Bay.

You need everything to feel brand new

Grand Case has beautiful stays, but the village itself is not a polished resort zone. Some streets feel local, some buildings still carry the island’s history, and that honesty is part of the place.

You do not plan to rent a car

You can enjoy Grand Case without driving every day, especially for beach and dinner. But if you want to explore Orient Bay, Anse Marcel, Pinel, Maho or the Dutch side, a car will still make your trip much easier.

My honest take: do not choose Grand Case just because it looks pretty in photos. Choose it if you want the village lifestyle. If you want a controlled resort bubble, another part of the island will probably suit you better.
